Parking in Delridge

Delridge is located in west Seattle. The southwest quadrant has a diverse array of communities – from neighborhood personalities to the socio-economic makeup of the different populations. The Delridge area is made up of Cottage Grove, High Point, Highland Park, Pigeon Park, Riverview, Roxhill, Westwood, and Youngstown. With so many interesting communities to visit or reside in, parking in Delridge can be a difficulty.

The Puget Mill Company plotted Cottage Grove early in the 20th century; you may have heard this area referred to as Youngstown, because the area is adjacent to Youngstown. High Point holds the highest point in all of Seattle, at 520 feet above sea level; from 1952 until a few years ago, the area was predominantly low-income housing. By 2009, the area should be a mixed-income community following redevelopments led by the Seattle Housing Authority. The project itself is most notable for its environmentally-conscious design. Nearly all of the new housing units consume 15% less energy than standard homes by using new insulation installation techniques, better windows, energy efficient cooling and heating systems, and Energy Star appliances. The area is also the only in Washington to feature a porous pavement street. Parking in Delridge on porous pavement, runoff will be directly infiltrated into the soil after it is stored in a stone reservoir. Removing water from streets and parking lots more efficiently means that when you’re parking in Delridge you’ll be less likely to step into a puddle leaving your car.
